Are You Healthy?

You probably read the title and said yes of course I am. I’m able to get up everyday not having to worry about any major health issue but really, are you healthy?

Allow me to explain.

Mental health. When last did you stop and think of your life and just take a mental break. A deep one. A lot of us take for granted the power of mental health issues. We just assume I’m not crazy so I’m not in need of mental health help. Truth is so many of us deal with all sorts but because it is not noticed, we don’t give it the attention it deserves. So check your mental health today. You may not be as healthy as you think.

Emotional Health. This is particularly important because we spend time investing emotions into so many things that drain us. Friendships and relationships that don’t necessarily benefit you. Jobs that are not bettering you and all sorts. Truth is what we choose to involve ourselves with frequently take up a lot of our emotions and my mantra with this is simple; life  is too short to devote time to people and things that do not make me feel good. Don’t harbor relationships based on obligation do it because these people are positively invested in you. Do they give tough love? Do they help when you need them? Do they look for you as much as you look for them etc. It’s so important to do right by our emotional health by making a conscious decision not to indulge yourself in toxic things. Your emotions will thank you for it.

Physical Health. When last did you work out? What do you eat daily? How much water are you drinking? How much sleep are you getting? It is so easy to neglect physical health because we haven’t been diagnosed with something or because we wake up everyday and everything seems fine. While I’m not saying a lot of us are sick, a lot of us are not in our best physical shape (me included). Take some time to reevaluate your physical health and be sure you are doing right by your body. Your future self will be grateful that you do.

Spiritual Health. Is your spirit fed? Whatever you believe in, are you committed to it? As a Christian, I know I try my best to feed my mind with the word everyday and I know how much impact that has had on me. So whatever your belief is, make sure you are at peace and your spirit is fed.

Reset. Have you stopped to appreciate yourself lately? You know, do something relaxing for you something that reminds you that you’re human and everyone needs a break? It is very important to reset else we burn out. No one has the power to just keep going forever without taking a break. My suggestion, find something, anything that brings you joy and make a conscious effort to reset by doing whatever that is. It may be taking a trip, finding a new restaurant to explore, reading a book, spending time with family. Whatever that thing is, reset as much as you can. Don’t let life pass you by because we might wake up one day and realize all the hard work was for nothing because you forgot to reset every time you should have.

I hope this helps someone make healthier decisions. Have a great week Goal Diggers!

I just did a huge reserach about mental health and exercise and it was striking to see that 18-24 years old, regardless of exercise or not, their mental health is not affected. Meaning that exercise has no effect on their mental health (in a good way or bad) and it was interesting to see the reason why. It is a good reminder to keep healthy all around because health is defined as the state of complete physical, socially, mentally, emotionally, spiritual overall wellbeing.

Health in all forms is at the center of it all. ME time in my world is a necessity for mental health and physical health requires good mental health. Spiritual health teaches, strengthens and creates peace.can you really have emotional health without any of the other types? Definitely all intertwined. Great job! We must all find some quiet time to reflect and DO!
